Covid-19 & Breast Cancer

Driven by the Covid-19 pandemic, this study originated from the pressing need to understand the impact that the pandemic had in Black, African American, Hispanic, and Latinx women diagnosed with breast cancer.

The study has three phases. First, we interviewed and conducted surveys with the target population to understand the impact that the Covid-19 pandemic had on their social, financial, physical, and mental well-being, as well as their care as breast cancer survivors.

Then, we developed a website aimed at providing culturally relevant and targeted information about Covid-19 and breast cancer that is responsive to their needs.

Lastly, we tested the website and gathered feedback from the intended users.

The finalized website is available to the public in both English and Spanish and is the result of key community-academic partnerships with The Thelma D. Jones Breast Cancer Fund, Nueva Vida, and the African Women's Cancer Awareness Association.
