Building from personal experience and testimony, Sisters Informing Sisters (SIS) was developed to help provide women and their families with skills and support to make informed decisions and communicate their needs, preferences and decisions to their healthcare providers.

The study engages Black and African American women with a breast cancer diagnosis to provide support and coaching throughout their experiences.  The goals of the study are (1) to learn how to improve patient-provider interactions, (2) to learn how to improve health outcomes, and (3) to empower women with breast cancer.

The SIS Study is led by Dr. Vanessa B. Sheppard at Virginia Commonwealth University, Dr. Lucille Adams-Campbell at the Office of Minority and Health Disparities from Georgetown University.
